Our Story

The Village Hall was built in 1924 by civic labour (in the style of 100 men and boys and horse labour) with Charles Dewar as the main benefactor. From the beginning, the Hall has always been self-financing for running costs, maintenance and any development work. The Trustees hold responsibility for maintenance of Hall and The Jubilee Field.

Over the past 100 years, the Hall has been added to and maintained by funds raised through income generated by the Social Club, renting the Hall for use by local clubs, societies and organisations as well as public and private events and from fund-raising events.

The Founding documents were updated in July 2009 and from 2019 The Hall is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation.

Your Village Hall needs you – how can you help?

How to support the Hall

We are always grateful for all support and donations to ensure the Hall can continue to fulfils its purpose as a sociable hub at the heart of Great Massingham.
If you would like to offer any help please contact the Chair of Trustees using the contact form here.

Becoming a Member

The easiest way to support us is to become a member of the Social Club. This costs just £12.50 per year and subscriptions run from April 1st. By becoming a member you provide valuable support to the Hall by contributing to its income stream. In return you may use the social club and its facilities at any time, have free entry to various events such as Bingo and Quiz nights and take advantage of our very reasonable bar prices (guests pay a small charge of £2 to use our facilities unless they are attending a formal event at the hall). To become a member either speak to one of the staff behind the bar or send a request by using the contact form here.
