Hall Facilities & Hire

The Hall is available to book for regular or one-off events. In addition to the clubs and societies who use our hall on a regular basis, we also welcome the Parish Council, the Parish Church Council, the local school, Community Cars, the Allotment Association and drama societies for meetings, rehearsals and much more. It is also a popular venue for celebratory parties, weddings and wakes. Find more about our wedding and wakes by following the link here

Dimensions & Capacity:

The main hall is 20 metres (20m) x 7 metres (7m) with an additional raised stage which is 5 meters (5m) x 3 meters (3m).

The Hall capacity is dependent on layout and is as follows:

  • Theatre Style (fully seated) – Capacity 200
  • Banqueting Style – Capacity 135
  • Wedding/Dinner-Dance – Capacity 135
  • Standing/Dancing  Capacity 170 people

There is also the potential to erect a marquee(s) along the Eastern side of the hall, where there are large windows/doors which would increase the number of people able to attend your event.

Catering

The Hall does not provide catering services so hirers must make their own arrangements if required. We have an approved list of local caterers whom we can recommend on request.

Kitchen

The Hall has excellent kitchen facilities which can cater for up to 120 guests and can be hired for use by your own appointed caterers. If you intend to undertake food preparation for your event, you will be required to hire the kitchen with your booking, this will ensure sole use of the kitchen for your event.

Equipment includes:

  • Crockery and cutlery  for 120 place settings
  • An extensive range of glassware
  • Fridge
  • Freezer
  • 1 x 4 zone hobs
  • 2 electric fan ovens with drop down doors
  • Plate warmer
  • Catering dishwasher, 540 plates per hour; 2 or 3 minute wash cycle.
  • Glasswasher
  • 2 tier preparation table.

Bar facilities & Alcohol Licence
The Hall has a full premises licence which includes the sale of alcohol for consumption on the premises. There are strict conditions governing the sale of alcohol which are reflected in our Hirer’s Agreement. These seek to avoid the mis-use of alcohol and its sale to underage drinkers.

Audio Visual Equipment
The Hall has a modern audio and visual equipment to support all uses with a plug and play box. Facilities include:

  • A Stereo sound system that enables you to plug and play music from your device e.g.: mobile, laptop, tablet or MP3, providing it is fitted with a headphone connector.
  • Microphones.
  • An induction Loop system for those who wear hearing aids. It is fully automatic and connected to the stereo sound system. Switch located at the front by the Sound Cupboard.
  • A full High-definition wide screen projection system is provided and images up to 4m can be displayed. Sound is also connected to the stereo sound system via the headphone connector. Connection point at the plug and play box is HDMI compatible

Music and Film Licences
Great Massingham Village Hall has a PR Licence that allows music to be played in the Hall.

The Hall is also licensed for film shows and the monthly Film Night every third Thursday of the month

Electric Vehicle Charging Points
The Hall has two electric chargers, each capable of charging two cars simultaneously.

Hall Hire Pricing
The cost of hiring the Hall is:

  • Main hall £20 per hour
  • Exclusive use of the kitchen £25 one-off charge
  • Christmas Eve & New Year hire £80 per hour. Minimum 3 hours

Costs above include 1 hour before and 1 hour after your meeting or event to set up and clear away up to 12.00 midnight after which private hire rates will apply.

Optional extras are available:

  • Additional bar hours (contact Hall Manager here for details)
  • Linen hire for tables (£12 per table)
  • Cleaning service
  • 6 hour set up period – £125

Celebratory Events and Wedding Packages
For more information on our wedding package follow the link here  but in summary rates are as follows:

£350 day hire (from 8.00am to midnight). This includes:

  • The hire of tables and chairs
  • Glass and crockery hire
  • Use of fully equipped kitchen
  • Bar open for 8 hours

Wakes
Hire charges from £120 dependent on facilities required and the duration of the event. Follow the link here for more information.

Damage Deposit
Weddings and adult parties will be charged a damage deposit of £250 which is fully refundable if no damage or breakages are incurred.

Exhibitions and conferences will be charged a damages deposit of £100.

For other events a damage deposit of up to £50 will apply depending on the nature of the event.

The Bar at the Village Hall welcomes everyone from the local community and their guests. It offers refreshing beers, wines, soft drinks and teas and coffees at very competitive prices with the opportunity to watch football or others sports, play pool, darts, snooker, billiards and socialise with friends old and new. Sky and Sky Sports is available on two large screens and there is free Wifi throughout. There is an outdoor drinking area where you can watch bowls, tennis, petanque or just soak up the sun.

Guests attending any events in the Hall may use the bar for the duration of their visit. To use the bar when not attending any other event, you may join the Social Club for a small annual membership fee. These fees help us keep our prices affordable, to the benefit of other members and those attending functions in the hall.

The current annual membership rate is £12.50 for over 18’s and subscriptions run from 1 April to 31 March the following year.

Children are welcome before 9.00pm.  After that time they must be accompanied by a parent or carer.

  • Note that the Bar is only open on Mondays and Tuesdays from 1st May to 1st September


Facilities for People with Disabilities

The Hall has a wide entrance doorway.

The car park has two disabled parking bays which are at the front entrance to the Hall, which is all on one level.

There are accessible toilet facilities and an induction hearing loop system in the Hall.

The drive has a separate, illuminated pathway to the main Hall entrance.
