Celebratory Events

Great Massingham is one of the most picturesque villages in Norfolk and its natural ponds and village green provide the perfect backdrop for those significant occasions creating memories you can treasure forever. The Village Hall itself is spacious and can be transformed into the ideal wedding or celebratory party venue.

The main hall is approximately 140 sqm (20m x 7m) and accommodates up to 120 people seated for a formal dinner, or up to 200 people for a standing buffet. A marquee can be sited adjacent to the Hall to increase the capacity further.

We have excellent relationships with local establishments who we can recommend to cater for your party, and can also suggest wedding stylists, florists, cake makers, entertainers and music makers who you can work with to bring your dreams to reality.

The Hall has a fully equipped kitchen supplied with crockery, cutlery and glassware for 120 settings and there is a choice of tables and chairs which can be laid out in the format of your choice. The Hall is fully licensed to sell alcohol and to provide live or recorded music.. It also offers a stage and lighting, a suitable dance floor, a sound system, projector and screen and hearing loop.

There is ample space on the adjacent Jubilee Field for a marquee and mobile catering vehicles, and outdoor areas for a barbecue or hog roast. The Hall has ample free on-site parking (and EV Charging Points), and there is a children’s play area to occupy the younger generation while the party is in full swing.

Wedding packages:

Wedding events consist of a standard package including all facilities (hall, kitchen and bar ). The cost for full day hire is £350  (from 8.00am to midnight). Additional hours can be arranged on the Friday for dressing the venue and the clear up on Sunday morning. Hire of the hall includes the following:

  • The hire of tables and chairs
  • Glass and crockery hire
  • Use of fully equipped kitchen
  • Bar open for 8 hours (more hours available on request)

In addition both packages are subject to a £250 damage deposit, fully refundable if no damage or breakages are incurred.

The Hall does not currently hold a license for marriage services, however, the beautiful St Mary’s Church is just a short walk from the Hall.  St Andrew’s at Little Massingham and St  Lawrence’s in Harpley are a few minutes drive away and King’s Lynn Registry Office is less than a half an hour’s drive away.  Scroll down for more information on venues for your marriage ceremony.
